With either type, make sure you have at least an inch or two extra room on all sides for folding purposes later on.

To create your lid, take another piece of cardboard and use it as a template. Place it on top of your circular piece, ensuring that they overlap by about half an inch or so. Then simply trace around both pieces together to create one larger piece—the lid! You'll need to cut out both circles in order to do this properly; if you try tracing only once, you'll end up with something like half of a lid instead!
